Rover 400 fuel consumption

Of all Rover 400 modifications produced from 1990 to 2000 real fuel consumption according to user ratings is approximately 17% higher compared to advertised consumption. For petrol engines real consumption is in average 12% higher, but for diesel engines is approximately 21% higher. Starting from 1993 Rover 400 average difference between actual owner-reported fuel consumption and stated consumption was similar to average, at 1995 it was slightly above industry average, at 1996 difference between owner-reported and advertised fuel economy became significantly higher than average.
