Fiat Punto fuel consumption

Of all Fiat Punto modifications produced from 1999 to 2018 real fuel consumption according to user ratings is approximately 14% higher compared to advertised consumption. For petrol engines real consumption is in average 22% higher, but for diesel engines is approximately 6% higher. Starting from 1999 Fiat Punto average difference between actual owner-reported fuel consumption and stated consumption was significantly higher than average, at 2004 it was slightly above industry average, at 2010 difference became similar to average and finally at 2012 difference between owner-reported and advertised fuel economy became significantly higher than average. Of course, it should be noted that the gap between advertised and actual fuel economy changed quite significantly across the entire automotive industry during this period.
